Pisces Rising. 1 The Bells were a Canadian rock band from Montreal that had two notable hit singles in the early 1970s. Featuring South African natives, Anne and Jackie Ralph as well as Cliff Edwards, Doug Gravelle and Gordie McLeod, the group started in 1965 as the Five Bells. They had their first hit in 1969 with Moody Manitoba Morning, followed in 1970 after shortening their name and some personnel changes by Fly Little White Dove, Fly, which became a Top-10 hit in Canada. He Was Me, He Was You - The Bells 1973 The little man was hungry, and they saw him as a tramp, With a love note in his pocket, but no money for a stamp. He Was a Friend of Mine is a traditional folk song in which the singer laments the death of a friend. Alan Lomax, first to collect the song, in 1939, described it as a blues that was a dirge for a dead comrade. The earliest known version of the song is titled Shorty George Roud 10055. A performance by African-American inmate Smith Casey, who accompanied himself on guitar, was first recorded by musicologist couple John A. and Ruby Terrill Lomax in 1939 at the Clemens State Farm in Brazoria. Текст песни: It happened one day near Decembers end Two neighbors called on an old friend And they found his shop so meager and lean Made gay with thousand bows of no money for a stamp, He just sits there in the doorway And he sings his lonely song, Mumbling the cold out of his hands, Watching the shadows weave and dance, Smiling, but in his eyes the chances are gone He was me, He was you, Maybe someone that you knew, There goes everybody's brother, What's his name. Walk on by, Pay no mind, Heartbreaks happen all the time Ain't it cold enough today, so let it rain He was me, He was you, Maybe someone that you knew, There goes everybody's brother, What's his name . Buble wrote that he was so sad to learn that a hero of mine had died. The singer called Mandel a genius and one of my favourite personalities. Skip Twitter post by MichaelBuble. I was so sad to learn that a hero of mine, Johnny Mandel, passed away. He was a genius and one of my favorite writers, arrangers, and personalities. He was a beast. RIP Johnny. Michael Bublé MichaelBuble June 30, 2020. He was truly beyond compare, and nobody could write or arrange the way he did. Lord will we miss him. He was so kind and caring, all who knew him loved him. 28 years and my only little boy was gone. Maybe he will meet Elliot Fletcher there in that great place beyond. He worked most of his adult life as newspaperman, syndicated country wide and is reputed to have had a new poem published in a newspaper every day for over 30 years. I will lend you, for a little time, A child of mine, He said. For you to love the while he lives, And mourn for when he's dead. It may be six or seven years, Or twenty-two or three. But will you, till I call him back, Take care of him for Me He'll bring his charms to gladden you, And should his stay be brief. You'll have his lovely memories, As solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, Since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught down there, I want this child to learn. I've looked the wide world over, In search for teachers true. And from the thron. Then he walked away Daddy gave me a name Then he walked away My daddy gave me a name Then he walked away My daddy gave me a name Then he walked away My daddy gave me a name. Then he walked away Yeah Then he walked away Yeah Then he walked away Oh yeah. Father of Mine is the third single from Everclears album So Much for The Afterglow. The song was written about when Art Alexakis' dad left his family when Art was young. It peaked at 70 on the Billboard Hot 100, 4 on Billboards Modern Rock Tracks chart, 23 on Billboards Adult Top 40 chart and 24 on Billboards Top 40 Mainstream chart
